The challenge
Greyfox needed to sell online without splitting its brain in two. Prices, tax, and stock had to stay in lockstep with the register. A single mis-synced inventory count would mean selling things the shelves don't have. The store also runs a food truck, which needed same-day order-ahead with a kitchen screen, a very different flow from next-day grocery pickup.
The approach
We built a custom platform rather than stitching together off-the-shelf tools. One system runs the storefront, payments, inventory, and store operations. Everything money-related is integer-cents, every state change is server-authoritative, and the whole system is covered by automated end-to-end tests, including real sandbox payment runs.
Customer storefront
Department browsing, as-you-type search, a slide-over cart, and a stepped checkout: pick a window, choose pickup or delivery, pay. Mobile-first.
POS integration
~1,500 products, prices, tax rates, and stock sync continuously from the store's POS. Every online sale writes back with an exactly-once guard.
Real-world payments
Grocery orders authorize at checkout and capture only what's picked and packed. Refunds are capped, idempotent, and audit-logged.
Picker app & kitchen display
PIN sign-in, pick/substitute/refund/weight entry, and a retry queue that survives flaky wifi. The truck gets accept → making → ready, with a one-tap 86 panel.
Owner back office
Today-at-a-glance dashboard, one-tap pause, order search, refunds, catalog and merchandising, delivery zones drawn on a map, hours, and staff PINs.
Customer trust
Live order status timelines, lifecycle emails, self-serve reorder and account deletion, plus privacy and terms pages.
